Affectionately nicknamed the “Young Savage” for his abrasive style, William "Amnesiac" Barton was one of the most prominent players on the Hearthstone circuit in the 2016-2017 period, making waves after winning the 2016 Americas Winter Championship at the age of fifteen. Two years later, he would go on to become the youngest-ever Red Bull Athlete for gaming. He currently plays for Tempo Storm.
To call his rise meteoric would be an understatement. Amnesiac’s Hearthstone career began in earnest after becoming a part of the ill-fated Team Archon, picking up multiple accolades on his path towards the 2016 World Championship finals. By then, he would be competing under NRG’s banner: he famously got knocked out in the round of eight in finals by eventual winner Pavel after the Russian randomly generated a much-needed Polymorph on the verge of elimination before turning the entire series around.
2017 would turn out to be a mediocre year for the American, a period bookended by near misses by the narrowest of margins in the premiere Hearthstone tournament. He barely missed out on the Winter seasonal playoffs in February due to a loss to Fr0zen in the final round of the qualifier – and he would suffer the same fat in the Summer Championship due to a defeat to YAYtears in the round of eight. It was scant consolation that Team USA managed to make it to the semi-finals of the inaugural Hearthstone Global Games under his captaincy.
Amnesiac joined Tempo Storm in February 2018, becoming a part of one of the strongest team rosters in Hearthstone. While he hasn’t managed to return to the greatest stage of the game in that calendar year either, he managed to win the second HCT Austin Tour Stop. No doubt he is one of many pros who are looking forward to the revamped competitive format of the game.
