The Road to The International is never smooth. As the biggest DOTA 2 event on the esports calendar, the sixteen teams who get to compete are the best in the world. Many have fought tooth and nail through grueling regional qualifiers to achieve their hard-earned slot.
Alongside the blood-pumping pro-DOTA 2 games and fast-paced action, you can expect lots of betting opportunities at The International this year to go with the live on-screen action.
Does one DOTA 2 team stand out as a firm favorite? If you fancy sprinkling that Rivalry hot sauce on your TI viewing and spice up the action, you’re in the right place! Keep reading for our favorite teams to win The International and take home the lion's share of the $1.6M prize pool.
Sixteen teams compete, but only one will lift the iconic Aegis of Champions after the Grand Final of The International 2024. Since they can’t all be winners, Rivalry has selected three teams you should keep an eye on when the competition begins on September 4, 2024.
2024 is the year of the Falcons as Team Falcons has spread their wings and dominated the professional DOTA 2 circuit. The dream team was victorious at DreamLeague Seasons 22 and 23, BetBoom Dacha 2024, and ESL One Birmingham.
They also took a respectable second at Elite League S1 and a double third-place finish at both PGL Wallachia Season 1 and Riyadh Masters.
Their powerful, consistent performance, coupled with their star-studded, experienced roster, make them a solid fan favorite for the biggest DOTA 2 tournament of the year.
Here’s the confirmed roster for Team Falcons at The International 2024.
Sneyking and skiter have lifted the Aegis of Champions at TI11 when competing under the banners of Tundra Esports. They are definitely the best two players to be leading the way to victory for Team Falcons.
Not to be counted out, Team Spirit are the defending champions after winning The International 12. They are a fabled name in the DOTA 2 pro-circuit as one of two teams (the other being OG) to have won two Internationals in DOTA 2 history, their first being in 2021 and second in 2023.
So far, they have quite a “mid” performance in 2024, coming in the 7th-8th bracket at Riyadh Masters 2024. However, this could be a trick and not indicative of Team Spirit's true performance and skills. They’ve had a track record of “slacking off” throughout the year before bringing their A-game to The International and clinching victory.
Yatoro has a seemingly infinite hero pool that’s difficult to counter while Collapse is always on the ball, making Team Spirit a force to be reckoned with.
Here’s Team Spirit’s confirmed roster for TI13 - will they pull a second consecutive win out of the bag?
After seeing massive repeated success in 2023, Gaimin Gladiators have taken a backseat and somewhat fallen off in 2024. They came first in almost every major event on the esports calendar, like the Lima Major, the Bali Major, and the first-ever BetBoom Dacha event. They were also the runner-up in TI12, losing 0:3 to Team Spirit.
Don’t let their performance fool you, though. The European team still holds the top spot in the DOTA 2 rankings. They've proven time and time again they aren't a squad to be underestimated in the upcoming International.
Here’s Gaimin Gladiator’s confirmed player roster.
Sixteen teams from the major DOTA 2 regions will compete at The International 2024, a decrease from the 20 that competed in The International last year. Six teams are directly invited by Valve.
Meanwhile, the remaining ten teams earned their slots through regional qualifiers in Western Europe, China, Southeast Asia, South America, North America, and Eastern Europe.
