It is the season of love, and Blizzard Entertainment are bringing all the Valentine's Day festivities to Overwatch 2 to create the ultimate Valentine event, a week after Overwatch 2 Season 3 began.
In the most creative in-game modes yet, Overwatch 2's Ultimate Valentine's event will launch on February 14 and run until February 28, 2023.
There will be a limited-time Overwatch text-based dating sim, Loverwatch, featuring cybernetic ninja Genji and the fan-favorite support Mercy, and a brand-new arcade game mode, Love of Geometry, featuring a new themed cosmetic skin for Hanzo.
In the rolling shop, players also have the opportunity to purchase the Cupid Hanzo bundle, which features the legendary Cupid Hanzo skin for the bow-wielding hero, a heart arrow weapon charm, the Valentine's themed POTG highlight intro, Hanzo's Cupid Kiss, and more!
With the cleverly-titled Loverwatch, Overwatch 2 fans get to fulfil their fantasies and romance either Mercy or Genji in two different dating paths and unlock rewards and themed cosmetics for the main game, like player icons and titles.
The Loverwatch dating sim is short-and-sweet and perfect for die-hard fans of Overwatch. It features fun dialogue options and plenty of hilarious pop-culture references, like Genji players having a reputation for needing healing.
Through this non-canon free-to-play browser game, players also see small snippets of future content that could be added to Overwatch 2, like the lore surrounding Zenyatta and hints there could be a complete Overwatch dating sim in the works for the future.
By successfully completing two run-throughs of Loverwatch and pursuing both Mercy and Genji as romantic partners, players get to unlock the secret ending. Starting a new game will reveal a short dialogue with Hanzo, where he will reveal that he has fallen for them.
Both diverging Loverwatch dating sim options take around 30 minutes to complete. Loverwatch is available in multiple languages including English, Korean, Spanish, Japanese, German, and French!
Ultimate Valentine's Event: Loverwatch Rewards:
As a distraction from the stress of ranked games, Overwatch 2 players can partake in the PvP 4v4 Team Deathmatch Arcade mode, called Love of Geometry, where two teams - all wearing the Cupid Hanzo skin - battle it out.
This unique game mode sees the return of the classic Scatter Arrow ability from the original Overwatch, which was previously removed in 2018 due to being unfair to play against because of its random nature. Hanzo's Storm Arrow is replaced by Scatter Arrow in Love of Geometry. The bowman can fire an arrow that ricochets and bounces randomly, dealing devastating damage and can potentially earn teamkills.
As mentioned, any players infatuated with Hanzo's Cupid skin can buy it from Overwatch 2's cosmetic shop for credits.
Cupid Hanzo stands out from other legendary cosmetics with a slew of fun additions perfect for Valentine's Day. The star of the show is the heart design decorating the quiver and Hanzo's shoes, as well as the heart VFX for every arrow fired, adding some fun to an otherwise stoic character.
Feel the love with Overwatch's support-themed challenges! Players can earn hero-specific rewards for being kind to the Support heroes on their team, and thanking them using the in-game emotes. Players can also win games as a Support and boost/heal their allies to earn further rewards!
Here are all the rewards players can earn:
The Valentine's Day fun doesn't stop there! Overwatch's Ultimate Valentine Event will run until February 28, so there is still plenty of time for players to indulge in some lovey-dovey fun and win event-exclusive rewards!
