Overwatch 2 Season 12 "New Frontiers" Leaks

The upcoming season of Overwatch 2 will be chockfull of new content for players to dive into. We're hearing rumors of 6v6 returning, the Clash game mode officially being released, a Reaper Mythic Skin, and the new Support hero blasting into action!

Overwatch 2 Season 12: Release Date 

According to the current in-game Battle Pass timer, Overwatch 2 Season 12, titled “New Frontiers”, will go live on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, keeping in tradition with Blizzard's Tuesday releases for OW2.

While no official release times have been confirmed for Season 12, Blizzard Entertainment's patch releases for Overwatch 2 usually adhere to the global timelines outlined below: 

• 11 AM PT
• 2 PM ET
• 6 PM BST
• 7 PM BST
• 8 PM CET
• 4 AM JST
• 5 AM AEST

As the new patch notes are made live across all worldwide servers, Overwatch 2 and all in-game queues will be disabled to allow the changes to take effect. Players will be advised to exit the game to download any new updates for Overwatch 2 through the Battle.net launcher.

Overwatch 2 Season 12: Mythic Skin & Mythic Weapon

The new Mythic Skin dropping in Overwatch 2 Season 12 will join the likes of the other 11 Mythic Skins in the game. Some leaks on August 13, 2024, have revealed that the recipient for the new Mythic skin in OW2 Season 12 "New Frontiers" will be Reaper, with an Anubis-themed skin.

The official Overwatch 2 Season 12 trailer drops on August 14, so we will await official confirmation and update this section accordingly.

Like previous seasons, Mythic Skins and the new Mythic Weapon can be purchased from the Mythic Shop for Mythic Prisms, earned by leveling up the Battle Pass or by purchasing them outright with IRL cash.

It will likely cost 50 Mythic Prisms for the base skin and an additional 30 for the other customizations. Players can use their Prisms to buy the new season's Mythic or a Mythic Skin they've missed in previous seasons, except the one for Ashe from Season 11.

Overwatch 2 Season 12: Battle Pass Theme

The new Battle Pass for Overwatch 2 Season 12 has been rumored to have an Egyptian Mythology theme, based on the recent leaks for the new Mythic Skin. We will also potentially see new skins in the Battle Pass for Echo, Genji, and Kirko.

As always, the Premium Battle Pass will be available for 1,000 Overwatch Coins. Grab it ASAP once OW2 Season 12 launches to start grinding through all the tiers and unlocking rewards, including more coins to purchase next season's Battle Pass! You'll also get a season-long XP boost, making it worth the investment.

Overwatch 2 Season 12: New Support Hero Juno

After her successful trial weekend back in July, Blizzard Entertainment will finally release the new hero, Juno, on August 20, 2024. Previously codenamed "Space Ranger," Juno is the second of the two new heroes teased at BlizzCon 2023, the first being Venture.

She is a highly mobile Support hero rocketing into the action in the next season. Her abilities provide a range of utilities and buffs for her allies, like increased movement speed and damage, making her a valuable boon for any team.

Overwatch 2 Season 12: New Game Mode

The Clash game mode was trialed in Overwatch 2 Season 10. Since then, there have reportedly been leaks of the Clash game mode coming back permanently with Season 12.

If you missed it, Clash sees two teams competing for five objectives, lettered A through E, placed in a linear pattern on a mirrored map. Teams must compete to activate one objective before the other. Once fully captured, that team gets one point added to their overall score.

Clash can be won in one of two ways: by getting five total points before the enemy team or by capturing the objective closest to the enemy spawn point. The new map to come out with this game mode will be Hanaoka, the 46th map to be added.

Game Director Aaron Keller has also been rumored to be testing 6v6 matches, a callback to the glory days of the OG Overwatch. It'll be interesting to see if an LTM Arcade mode is released for community testing and feedback. We'd imagine it would be 2 Tanks, 2 DPS, and 2 Supports.
