It's been four long months since Agent 25, Clove, joined Valorant's growing roster. Fans are now eagerly anticipating any hints from Riot Games about the mysterious Agent 26, who was briefly teased in the trailers for Episode 09, Act 01, and the new map, Abyss.
Our first sneak peek suggests that Agent 26 could revolutionize gameplay with potential time-stopping abilities, turning the tempo of battle. Here's everything we know about Valorant Agent 26 so far.
Agent 26 has been codenamed "Hourglass." This comes from their core motifs, which include an hourglass and thorny vines. In the Abyss map trailer (embedded below), the new Agent is encased in a frozen hourglass-shaped structure. The Agent then begins to defrost, revealing a mysterious figure with claw-like hands.
Since the last new Valorant Agent, Clove, was the team's Controller, we can assume that any upcoming Agents will fall into the other roles: Duelist, Initiator, and Sentinel.
Recent Valorant leaks (@ValorantUpdated on X) confirm Agent 26, aka Hourglass, will fall into the Initiator category. This role requires highly coordinated play as they challenge different angles on the map by widening their team's options, entering contested ground, and pursuing favorable fights to claim an objective. As their name suggests, they are the ones to initiate a team fight, so amazing aim is a must. An example of an elite Initiator Agent is Sova, whose arrows can reveal enemies nearby.
We don't currently know what Agent 26 will be able to do in terms of their abilities or Ultimate. However, since their central motif is an hourglass, they may be able to manipulate time. This could either be by stopping time temporarily or changing the pace of a fight.
As an Initiator, Agent 26 should be able to fulfill the strategic needs of their team and fit into a broader comp. Their focus will be providing utility for their team, like scouting out nearby enemies or aggressively taking back an area and pushing back enemy defenders.
Clove's abilities are unique, like their ability to absorb health from deceased players or their temporarily self-resurrection Ultimate, which is perfect for impromptu mischievous risk-takers. It will be interesting to see what Agent 26 will bring to the FPS.
Valorant's upcoming Agent, Agent 26, will officially be revealed next month, either during or after the Valorant Champions 2024 Grand Finals in Seoul on August 25, 2024.
This follows Riot Games' recent precedent of introducing a new Agent after an important esports match, like Clove after VCT Masters Madrid.
While the new Valorant Agent will be officially unveiled on August 25, they won't arrive in the game and Valorant's PBE until later. We have no concrete information on when the new Agent will arrive. However, we can anticipate it'll be sometime in Episode 09, Act 02, which starts on August 27.
As more details come to light on the next Agent coming to Valorant, we will update this article with all the information on their abilities, so stay tuned as we await official tidbits from Riot Games!

There are currently 25 Agents in Valorant as of Episode 09, Act 1.
Clove is the latest addition to the Valorant roster as a Controller. They can temporarily resurrect themselves, which becomes permanent when they secure a kill or an assist. This works well as Controllers jump into the fray and inevitably die, which greatly limit their team's chances. This resurrection ability works as a second life, perfect for when they die during a daft play.
Agent 24 was Iso, released in 2023 as Valorant's seventh Duelist to be added to the game.
