Spring is officially here, which means new changes are on the horizon! While the last League of Legends patch 14.8 was coined the "MSI patch," the LoL patch 14.9 preview shows that the balance changes aren't stopping there!
Whether you're a tryhard League of Legends player or someone more casual, staying up-to-date with all patch updates and changes to the MOBA is crucial for climbing the ranks, learning the meta, and improving at the game.
For LoL Patch 14.9, Riot Games is looking to tweak power shifts on certain meta champions from every lane, including Ahri, Blitzcrank, Twitch, and Pyke. This patch is very nerf-heavy, targeting strong champions who have dominated so far in Season 14.
Here are the early LoL 14.9 patch notes, including all tentative champion buffs, nerfs, new skins, and more! Remember that all listed buffs and nerfs are subject to changes in the days leading up to LoL patch 14.9's release.
Based on Riot Games' official patch schedule for 2024, League of Legends patch 14.9 is scheduled for release on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Ironically, this is the start date for MSI 2024, but patch 14.9 won't be the update players will experience in the tournament.
Similar to past updates, adjustments for LoL patch 14.9 will be rolled out gradually to accommodate various time zones and global servers. The update will kick off in the Southern Hemisphere with the Oceanic server around 10 AM AEST.
Here's (roughly) when you can expect the new League of Legends patch to roll out:
Riot Games will temporarily disable all matchmaking queues during the implementation of League of Legends patch 14.9. To protect your hard-earned LP and avoid tilting, t's advisable to avoid entering competitive queues or any games until this update is complete.
While League patch 14.8 aimed to get champions MSI-ready with plenty of buffs and stat boosts, patch 14.9 is headed in the opposite direction.
The aim of the game is to now "pull power" away from OP champions, hence the sheer number of nerfs to 17 champions in total. Skarner is also struggling to find the sweet spot with Skarner following the recent rework in patch 14.7, as he is getting another round of tweaks this month.
Several fighter items, like Death's Dance, typically used by fighters in the Top Lane, have also been slightly tweaked for patch 14.9. These updates include recipe changes, cost updates, and more.
Add some color to your League of Legends wardrobe with the upcoming new skins in League of Legends patch 14.9! This time around, LoL players are in for a treat with seven colorful skins to choose from in the Empyrean skinline, including a legendary skin for Varus!
Here are their prices and rarities:
Please note that the champion buffs described below are preliminary adjustments and are subject to change until Riot Games officially implements them on live servers on May 1, 2024, with League patch 14.9.
