Evil Geniuses picked up their second LAN win in three events after besting Fnatic in the grand final. In the end, stanislaw and co. only dropped three maps throughout their run, deservedly winning the tournament in the absence of Astralis and Team Liquid.
Despite the early blip against the Ninjas in Pyjamas, Evil Geniuses comfortably took down the event in the end. Notably, their run only included one fellow top-five ranked team in the form of Fnatic, having beaten 5POWER, Heroic, FURIA and Renegades on the way alongside an upper bracket loss and a subsequent revenge win against NiP.
That said, it’s been an impressive event from the North American side who have fully cemented themselves as a top tier contender since the Berlin Major. Interestingly, all their map losses came against Swedish sides, losing in the group stage losers’ final to NiP for the seeding and dropping Mirage to Fnatic in the upper bracket playoff final.
The grand final would turn out to be a much more straightforward affair.
