Riot Games' League of Legends is renowned for its incredible world-building and LoL lore, with epic storytelling skins, music videos, and integrated in-game lore. Of course, the popular first season of Arcane, released on Netflix in 2021, garnered immense interest in the game, enticing new fans to try the MOBA for themselves.

Since it's been three long years since Arcane's debut, fans understandably feel starved of content as Arcane Season 2 updates have been few and far between. However, news of the second season of the League of Legends series was dropped at the Video V Vision Conference, held by League of Legends developer Riot Games' parent company, Tencent.

When is Arcane Season 2 Going To Be Released?

Netflix's hit animated series Arcane has been given a release window of Q4 2023. Q4 means that the second season should debut between October and December next year, meaning we still have some time to wait. Remember, it's been around three years since the final episode left viewers on a cliffhanger after Jinx's attack on the Council members of Piltover.

Fans of Arcane Season 1 have speculated that Arcane will drop in November 2024, as the first season began airing on November 6, 2021. League of Legends' 15th birthday is also October 27, 2009, and the release of Arcane Season 2 would mark an important milestone in the parent franchise. Kevin Alejandro, the voice of Jayce, has continued to drum up excitement and hype for Arcane Season 2. "You're going to be on the edge of your seats. You're going to be conflicted in such a way that I don't know if it's good or bad. Like, your emotions will be pulled out of you and you'll be like 'OH MY GOD!'"

Riot CEO, Nicolo Laurent, also says that Arcane's animation studio Fortiche is "making progress" with the second season after seeing the third episode himself. While the first season took two years to make, he assures fans that it will take less time to create the second season as the story boards and voices are already coming to life.

He continued that they weren't prepared for Season One of Arcane to be a massive sensation, saying, "If I had known, we could have started season two way earlier, but we didn't know so we waited a bit. Now we're paying the price, so it's unfortunately not going to be this year."

What Characters Will Be In Arcane Season 2?

We expect Arcane Season 2 and future seasons to dive deeper into the League of Legends lore behind many fan-favorite characters, and we can expect more hijinks from Jinx!

While LoL characters seen in Arcane's first season will continue to be the main focus, like Hailee Steinfeld's Vi, Ella Purnell's Jinx, and Kevin Alejandro's Jayce, there are still tons of other characters in the LoL universe that could make a cameo appearance.

This includes dozens of known Piltover and Zaun residents like Camille, Ezreal, Orianna, Twitch, and Renata Glasc, to name a few! There's even speculation that Warwick is Vander, Jinx and Vi's adoptive father.

What Happened in Arcane Season 1?

Without spoiling too much, the first season of Arcane is set in the technologically advanced fictional city of Piltover and the grim undercity of Zaun and dives into the political barriers between the two neighboring regions. In Piltover, progress and innovation thrive, while the opposite can be said for Zaun, full of corruption and crime.

On the surface, Arcane Season One is a gripping tale about two orphaned sisters, Vi and Powder/Jinx, who become estranged due to unforeseen circumstances. In reality, the show is much deeper than that. It explores the lore behind iconic characters like Viktor, Ekko, and Vi, as well as learning how Jinx adopted her "crazy" personality. The ending was a cliffhanger, as viewers were left wondering what happened to Jinx, Caitlyn, Vi, and the city of Piltover.

Arcane is praised for its stunning animation and action sequences, deep character development, and engaging storytelling. It offers League of Legends fans and newcomers an immersive experience into the game's lore, even if they know nothing about it.
