Abed reaches 11k MMR in Dota 2

The Evil Geniuses player was the first in Dota history to cross the 11000 ranking barrier in Dota 2 matchmaking.

A new barrier broken

They said it couldn’t be done, yet here we are: EG’s 19-year-old starlet has hit yet another Dota 2 matchmaking record by becoming the first to reach 11 000 MMR. He was also the first to reach 10 000 solo under the new Medal system in June 2019, and also the first to reach the same milestone in the previous one in June 2017.

His announcement tweet shows a standout 73.3% winrate with Meepo across 525 games, and his highest winstreak of 16 was achieved on two different heroes.

A good sign for EG

Abed’s Evil Geniuses team has finished second at DreamLeague Season 13 earlier this year. Their last showing was a tournament win at BTS Pro Series, making it three in a row for them in online play in the North American bracket (WeSve! Carity Play, ESL One Los Angeles 2020 and the BTS event).

It remains to be seen how serious the Dota calendar disruption will turn out to be, but EG seems in a good position for the time being.
